A message from Deacon Tom
 Welcome to the Spiritual Life Committee's page on the St. Boniface website. The purpose of this committee is to assist the pastor of St. Boniface in enhancing the growth of our spirituality, by making suggestions, by implementing ideas, and by advertising our events.
We meet on the third Monday of each month at 7:30 PM in the rectory. Members include myself (Deacon Tom), Chris Healy (President of the Parish Council), Daisy and Edwin Ortiz (Church decorations & Liturgy), Ellen McNamara (music ministry), Ana Felske (Eucharistic Ministers), Bill Martin (Respect Life Coordinator for the parish), Joe & Marianne Dougherty (former coordinators of Spiritual Life), Jerry Fox (Scholarship Committee), Jo Robinson (Centering Prayer), Mavis Follini (Rosary), Helen Flynn (Liturgy), Peg & Sal Lucido (Cornerstone). We also look forward to your joining us at our meetings, or in receiving your input through ideas submitted to any of our current members.
Here are some ideas that have been put forward, since our first meeting in January of 2007:
- R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults), to be implemented during the 2007-2008 year;
- Christmas, Lent, Easter and Ordinary Time decorations around the Church (see Daisy and Ed);
- Lessons & Carols, concerts during Advent and Lent featuring music and readings; arranged by both Spiritual Life and Music Ministry;
- Ideas for future parish missions (when, who, etc... input needed);
- Special masses for couples celebrating 25th and 50th wedding anniversaries;
- Fast-feast celebration during Lent, to be resumed in 2008;
- Eucharistic Adoration during recitation of the Wednesday night rosary, first Wednesday of the month, implemented in March of 2007;
- Respect Life activities, in conjunction with our Respect Life Committee, headed by Bill Martin;
- Centering Prayer activities, arranged through our Centering Prayer coordinator, Jo Robinson;
- Distribution of spiritual reading during Advent & Lent, currently the God's Word Among Us series;
- Parish participation in Cornerstone (currently held at Sacred Heart parish in Suffern);
- Parish participation in perpetual adoration at St. Gregory's in Garnerville, 24/7 (see Deacon Tom);
- Stations of the Cross on Fridays during Lent, as well as the extra weekday Mass during Lent;
- Special Stations of the Cross, set to music, on Good Friday evening (Jim Coakley this year, 2007).
