Twenty-Second Sunday
of Ordinary Time
Hi, it’s me again.
I hope this summer
has been a time of
rest and comfort
for you. As I begin my 3rd column from the North
country, I realize that summer is fast coming to a
speedy conclusion. So together we say, where has the
summer gone? I miss you all. You are in my prayers
every day at Mass. Lets continue to pray for each
other.
Today we seek to praise God as we humbly acknowledge
the gifts he has given us. Humility is a moral virtue
that helps us counter our human tendency toward
exaggerated pride. So we recognize and celebrate our
talents because we acknowledge God as their source,
and his praise as their purpose.
There is need for true humility and the blessedness of
generous sharing with the needy. All that we have is a
gift from God and therefore we must use these God
given gifts to help others.
We must admit that we are sinners. We do not know
everything and that we do not always do everything
correctly. However, we are made in the image and
likeness of God and are called to help build up the
Kingdom of God with our God given gifts.
We are of value because we are loved by God, and
redeemed by Jesus. We are called to connect with
and serve the homeless, the handicapped, the elderly,
the impoverished—the street people of the world.
Governor Christian Heater (Massachusetts) thought he
deserved another piece of chicken and he said, “Do
you know who I am? I’m the governor of this state.”
The woman said, “I’m the lady in charge of this
chicken. Move along, mister.”
Finally, we are looking for more members for our Parish
Council. This committee serves as an advisory
group to assist the pastor in his decision making, as
well as informing the pastor of ideas, thoughts, and
concerns of fellow parishioners. Council members are
asked to commit to a three year term. You may submit
your name or another’s by contacting Bob Chamberlain,
the Chairperson, or by calling the rectory, or
e-mailing Fr.Hugh.Grace@archny.org.
Carry On.

From the Desk of Deacon Tom:
Please accept my sincere thanks for the lovely ceremony on Divine Mercy Sunday at St. Boniface. Special thanks to Father Grace for his continuous spiritual guidance throughout my diaconal ministry, and to Kay Kelly for organizing the events that placed my picture on the "Religious Education Wall of Fame." It was such a pleasure meeting so many people at the end of the 9:00 Mass and also worshipping with all of you at the 11 AM Mass. It was also a very satisfying experience preaching on my favorite topic: Divine Mercy and the Doubting Thomas. Thank you all for a wonderful day. Deacon Tom Colton
Due to scheduling conflicts, the monthly rosary and Eucharistic Adoration, normally scheduled for the first Wednesday of the month at 8 PM, will instead be transferred to the second Wednesday during the months of May and July. Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, May 12, right after the anticipated Holy Day Mass for the Ascension, and for Wednesday, July 14, at the usual hour of 8 PM. Other than these two months, we still meet on the first Wednesday of the month as stated on the front cover of the bulletin. It is great to see attendance at this ministry of worship growing. Thanks for your continuous support.
Deacon Tom Colton
